This entry started as a draft created at the beginning of the month, an account of my dad’s hospitalization and the consequential events stemming from that root incident. But things progressed quickly, and in trying to balance life obligations and visiting his bedside as much as possible in his potential final days, I never got around to finishing it.
Earlier this morning, I returned from a walk to grab a morning coffee while my phone charged after having gone the night without being plugged in to find missed calls & texts from my aunt and cousin. I immediately deduced that they were attempts to reach out to deliver unfortunate news, which was promptly proven to be the case when I returned the calls.
It’s surreal to be in that phase of life where my parents have started to leave this world, more so given the circumstances around my dad’s arrangements. And I know it’s going to be up to me to eulogize and accurately record his legacy. But before anywhere else, I wanted to record it here first.
Rest in peace, pops.
